Spring Clean Up:
Burn Permits Required!
Spring is here and you want to clear brush and burn it? You need a burn permit to do so!
Before you get started, do these things first:
- Read and become familiar with the South Burlington Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Ordinance. (Section 33, Outside Burning)

Contact the Fire Department at 846-4110 to request a burn permit.
- Permits are issued on the day of the burn, weather dependent.
- All outside fires shall be always attended and shall only be kindled at such times and under such conditions as will enable the party kindling the fire to keep the fire under control and prevent the fire from creating a public nuisance or hazard.
- Should the fire become out of control, contact 911 immediately!
