City Awarded Over $1 Million in Grants for New Projects

August 30, 2023
In August, the City was awarded a pair of grants to help fund the construction of new projects.

South Burlington has secured $500,000 in non-rate-payer funding toward the construction of a new water tank. This grant, awarded through Vermont’s Community Recovery and Revitalization Program (CRRP), recognizes and supports South Burlington’s efforts to provide affordable housing. The East Storage Tank Expansion will add a new “twin” standpipe tank, with an additional 2.1 million gallon capacity—enough water storage to address the needs of our growing City for the foreseeable future.

The City also received $768,000 in federal funds for the design and construction of the Hinesburg Road Shared Use Path. Awarded through the 2023 VTrans Bicycle & Pedestrian Program, these funds will be used towards a shared use path on Hinesburg Road between Williston Road and Kennedy Drive to replace the current sidewalk. This project continues the goal of making South Burlington safer and more accessible for all road users.
