New Braeburn Apartments Opening Soon
The new Braeburn Apartments on Williston Road are set to open soon, with residents moving in at the end of September or early October. The Champlain Housing Trust built these 20 apartments out of the former Ho-Hum Motel, allowing them to be created at less than half the cost of newly-built apartments. Residents will pay 30% of their income in rent, with the rest covered by a subsidy from the Burlington Housing Authority.
The City of South Burlington invested $300,000 in our American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds to this conversion, which will help provide homes to people who previously had no permanent housing. Additional funds were provided by Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and National Housing Trust.
