Wheeler Nature Park Boundary Markers to Be Installed
The City of South Burlington owns Wheeler Nature Park, and, for the past several years, has been working to establish a conservation easement to protect the land for future generations. Once complete, the conservation easement will restrict the use of the land to ensure Wheeler Park remains just that—a nature park—and not a developed recreation site.
The Natural Area consists of mixed forest, grasslands, shrublands, wetlands, a tree nursery, and pedestrian trails for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The Wheeler Homestead Area contains community garden plots, the children’s garden, and the Old Wheeler/Calkins House.
As the City works to finalize the conservation easement at Wheeler Park, new markings will be installed along a portion of the park boundary. Once complete, The Vermont Land Trust will ensure that Wheeler Park meets the needs of the residents of South Burlington into the future.
