First South Burlington Energy Festival a Success

The first ever South Burlington Energy Festival was held on Saturday, September 30. At least 500 folks came to enjoy the festivities on a beautiful, sunny day. The event had a fun, positive vibe all around, with music, free ice cream and lots of prizes drawn for happy winners! Event visitors learned about the City’s efforts in energy efficiency so far and its plans for the future.

Kids had a great time playing in the SunCommon bouncy house, dancing and taking selfies with Champ, and winning prizes at the Marabella Kids Space scavenger hunt. Four food trucks were busy serving a variety of delicious breakfast, lunch, and dessert options. Exhibitors and event visitors alike reported a great time, with lots of information about ways to address climate change as an individual and community shared in a relaxed atmosphere. There was a popular induction stove demo, and energetic visitors worked the smoothie bike! Event visitors could attend a variety of workshops held in the auditorium and senior center, while in the back of City Hall, lots of people checked out eBikes and electric vehicles.

The event was organized by South Burlington Energy Committee in support of the city’s Climate Action Plan. If you would like to join the Energy Community Coalition please fill out this form.
