Public Hearings to Consider a Charter Change That Increases the Number of School Board Members

This month, the South Burlington City Council will consider a charter change to increase the number of members of the South Burlington School District Board. The proposed amendments would change the number of members from five to seven, with four members serving a three-year term, and three members serving a two-year term. Ahead of a potential vote on Town Meeting Day, all are invited to attend public hearings on January 22, 2024 at 6:45 p.m. and January 29, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the auditorium in City Hall, 180 Market Street, South Burlington. Full details can be found in the public hearings notice.

On January 29, 2024, the City Council will determine if this charter change will go to the voters on Town Meeting Day. If approved by the voters, it will need to be considered by the Legislature, then the Governor, before going into effect.
